Bilha Yinon, a 75-year-old painter and artist, has been conducting creative workshops in her home for the past few years. On Saturday morning, as the alarms began in the Moshav, she and her husband, Yaakov Yinon, a 77-year-old agronomist and agricultural guide, hide in the safe room whose walls are filled with her artwork.

Yaakov and Bilha's five children, Maoz, Maayan, Mor, Magal and Magen, try to contact the parents on the family WhatsApp group, but without success. About an hour after the alarms started, Yaakov sends the first update to his family, writing: “Morning. Sitting in safe room. We locked the house. Other than the sounds of rockets, we can also hear guns firing. It's not clear what's going on.”

Around 9:20 p.m., Maayan, the daughter of Yaakov and Bilha, sends a WhatsApp message to their neighbor, Einat Kidder: “I'm really worried about my parents and they're not answering. If you can update at the first opportunity,” she wrote. About two hours later, Einat updates Maayan: “I can only see that there was damage to the house.” At the same time, Yaakov and Bilha's children meet at Maayans house in Moshav Aviel. Magen, who lives in London, buys a plane ticket to Israel

The IDF informs the family that Bilha was murdered. According to the IDF, Bilha was killed on 7.10 in the vicinity of her home. This was determined by a committee of experts from the Ministry of Health, representatives of the IDF investigative team, representatives of the Institute of Forensic Medicine, the Israeli Police, and Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, based on a “compendium of findings”.
