The Berger family was at their home in Netiv HaAsara on October 7th. Nirit was murdered in the bathroom, and the father, Alon, was able to save their three daughters, Shani (28), Chen (26), and Gal (33), and hide them in one of the rooms. While they were sitting quietly, the terrorist was still walking around the house.

Alon and his wife Nurit wake up to the sound of red color alarms. As the unusual sirens are heard, Alon tells Nurit that he is afraid of soldier kidnappings and realizes that an unfolding event is beginning in their village. In another room, Shani and Chen are also waking up. Gal is already asleep in the safe room.
Terrorists infiltrate Netiv HaAsara from the air using paragliders. One of whom embarks on a murderous spree even from the sky. This terrorist continues until reaching the Berger family's home.
Nurit goes to the bathroom. Alon hears her scream "Wow," and a moment later, an explosion is heard. This is the moment when the terrorist threw a bomb shell through the window into the bathroom. Alon runs to the scene and sees Nurit lifeless. He kisses and hugs her, then flees toward the safe room.
The bomber start firing from the window into Shani and Chen's rooms. Chen was wounded by a shrapnel in the hand and a bullet in her leg, Shani was hit by a bullet in the back. Because of the adrenaline, both didn't feel the injuries
Alon, Shani, and Chen run toward the safe room. The terrorist continues to the main entrance and throws another bomb shell into the house. The large aquarium at the entrance absorbs the blast from the explosion, which likely saves their lives.
The terrorist enters the house and moves around quietly. The family hears crunching on glass and realizes they need to remain silent. The safe room door is not secure and is made of wood, which likely caused the terrorist to lose interest in that room. Alon deliberately leaves the door partially open so that the room appears empty. The terrorist wanders around the house for a few minutes.
Five soldiers enter the family's house. Alon manages to signal to them from a distance that there is a terrorist in the house. Intense gunfire takes place against the terrorist until he flees from the house.
The security officer of the community, Amnon Ziv, arrives at the house and rescues Alon and his daughters. Shani and Chen are taken to Assuta Hospital in Ashdod. Later in the day, Alon and Gal are evacuated to the Yearim Hotel.
After the daughters were discharged from the hospital, the Yifrach family from Moshav Meishar vacated their home for them. The Berger family will stay there for a month and a half.
About two weeks after the massacre, Nurit is laid to rest in the cemetery in Gedera.
