On Saturday evening, terrorists entered the house and barricaded themselves in it. On Sunday morning, IDF fighters took control of the house. Under the mistaken assumption that terrorists were inside the shelter, the force fired at the door and hit Tom, the father of the family, who died from his wounds

When the alarms sounded, members of the Godo family entered the safe room: Tom, his wife Limor, and their daughters Romy (11), Tzuf (6.5), and Gefen (4.5). During the alarms, Tzuf and Gefen slept and woke up about two hours later. In the morning, family members receive a notification in the local kibbutz app, through which emergency team members verify the safety of all kibbutz members.
Family members hear the echoes of the battle outside the house. During mid-day, they periodically leave the safe room to go to the toilet and bring food and drinks. At one point, the dog, Jumpy, joins them in the safe room. During the afternoon, members of the Godo family communicate with their relatives. From around 13:20, the family members, like all those at Kibbutz Kissufim, are left without electricity and mobile reception.
Eight fighters from the Egoz unit enter the family's house while they are hiding in the safe room. The fighters call the family members to come out of the safe room. Tom and Limor open the door and talk to the fighters. During the conversation, Limor asks them: “Are you evacuating us?”. The fighters reply that they are still fighting for the kibbutz and estimate that the event is expected to end within the next two hours. The fighters sweep the house and return to fight the kibbutz. The family members return to the safe room.
Terrorists infiltrate the family home and start shooting out from the inside. Soon after, they begin shooting at the door and window of the safe room but fail to blow them out. Tom holds tight at the door of the safe room.
Tom Godo gets tired and asks Limor to take his place, holding the door handle of the safe room. Tom lies down to rest, wakes up after about two hours, and returns to hold the door. At the same time, the terrorists continue to barricade themselves in the house and conduct exchanges of fire from it. During the exchange of fire, one of the terrorists was killed.
A Givati force enters the house and finds the body of a terrorist on the floor. Another terrorist shoots from inside the house at the fighters. In a battle that takes place near the shelter, the force kills a terrorist. According to an IDF investigation, the fighters leave the house without checking that civilians are inside. About 20 minutes later, the terrorists resume firing at the door and window of the shelter, but they are unable to break through them. During the night, Limor calls for help several times, but the shelter has no reception and the messages are not sent
Three fighters enter the house. One of them approaches the shelter and shouts: "Open the door." Tom asks: "Who is it?", but the fighters do not answer. They continue to try to break in, but Tom prevents them. Tom tells Limor: "We have to call for help," but she tells him that she is unable to - the electricity has gone out and there is no communication. Limor offers to open the window, but Tom refuses. Immediately afterwards, the soldiers fire four bullets at the door. One of the bullets hits Tom, who loses consciousness and falls. According to an IDF investigation, the fighters assumed that there were terrorists inside, holding civilians hostage, and they decided to shoot at the door to kill whoever was behind it
Limor decides to flee. She takes her daughters and jumps out the window. Limor and the girls run among the trees in the kibbutz. They find shelter in a nearby house and enter the safe room.
Limor decides to locate civilians or security forces. While running away, Limor comes across four armed men dressed in olive uniforms. Limor, who does not see well without her glasses, asks for their identity and realizes that they are terrorists. She and the girls run away until they run into a pair of friends from the kibbutz on one of the lawns.
Limor meets an IDF force that evacuates them and informs the soldiers that terrorists shot her husband. Limor asks the soldiers to come to the house with her, but they refuse and say they will come to the house later. About 10 minutes later, Limor and her daughters board a bus with other kibbutz members and again ask the security forces to go to Tom. Later in the day, the family arrives at a hotel in the Dead Sea and meets other kibbutz members. During the trip, Limor calls relatives to update them.
During the night, the family is informed of Tom's death
Six days after he was murdered, Tom Godo is laid to rest at the cemetery in Kibbutz Naan
At the end of the IDF investigation, the family, which until now believed that Tom was murdered by terrorists, is informed that IDF soldiers accidentally killed Tom
