The Goldstein-Almog family tried to hide inside places inside their safe room. A few hours later, the terrorists broke into their home, murdered the father Nadav and the eldest daughter Yam (20) and abducted the rest to the Gaza Strip. Chen and the children Agam (17) Gal (11) and Tal (9) will be held hostage for 51 days.

The six members of the family enter the safe room when the sirens go off.
The family members realize that terrorists have infiltrated the kibbutz. They decide to hide inside the small safe room: a few hide under the bed and others hide behind the wardrobe. Yam corresponds with her grandmother and says: “We are fine for now, hiding in the safe room”.
As family members hear the yelling of the terrorists and the sounds of gunfire approaching them, Yam writes to her grandparents: 'We are asking for help'.
The terrorists blow up the back-entrance door of the house with an explosive device, and about five terrorists storm into the safe room. Nadav stands near the door and tries to prevent them from entering. They shoot at his chest at point-blank range.
The terrorists lead Chen and the children into the yard through an opening in the toilet caused by the blast.
On their way out of the safe room, the family members pass over the body of the father, Nadav. Yam, the eldest daughter, faints in the bathroom and her sister Agam tries to wake her up. One of the terrorists pulls her hair tightly and takes her outside with her two little brothers.
Chen returns to the bathroom and pours water on Yam in an attempt to wake her. She regains consciousness and faints intermittently. In the minutes that elapse, Chen runs between the three children in the yard of the house with the terrorists and an unconscious Yam.
Chen returns from the yard to the restroom. She finds Yam shot in the face.
The terrorists kidnap Chen, Agam, Gal, and Tal to the Gaza Strip in Chen's car. The bodies of Yam and Nadav remain in the kibbutz.
During the brutal ride into Gaza, the terrorists stop near the broken border fence and load bodies into the trunk of the vehicle. Agam tells her little brothers: "Don't look".
The vehicle loaded with bodies arrives in the Gaza Strip. Already on the way there Chen tells children 'Yam is not with us anymore, for sure'.
