Tomer, Amit and their three children, aged 7, 5 and one year and eight months old, were among the last to be rescued from the Kfar Aza kibbutz after spending 35 hours in their safe room, about 15 of them without electricity and communications. The house next to them was used by the terrorists as a combat headquarters

As alarms and unusual explosions noises are heard, the family goes into the safe room

The couple hear the sounds of gunfire getting closer and closer until they heard it just outside the safe room where they stay. Tomer quickly exit to turn off all the lights so that the terrorists think that no one is in the house

    Tomer informs on WhatsApp that his good friend, Aviv Baram, a member of the kibbutz's security squad, has been seriously injured and that he is very close to their home. Despite Amit's entreaties, he decided to go out in an attempt to save him. “I won't be able to live with myself without trying,” he told her and left his house while hearing incessant gunshots. Amit stays together with their young children in the safe room

    Tomer leaves the safe room and stands at the door of the house, where he notices a group of about 15 terrorists fighting and barricading themselves in the adjacent house. He watches what is happening for several minutes and realizes that the neighbor's house became a terrorist's Headquarters. At this time, Amit is alone in the safe room with her young children, with a baby in one hand and a kitchen knife in the other. Tomer tries several times to move towards his wounded friend, but realizes that he will not be able to reach him alive and returns to his family.

    Beyond the walls of the safe room, family members hear incessant gunfights, grenade explosions and shell whistles. The electricity in the kibbutz is cut off and a few hours later the cellular reception is also disconnected. While in the safe room, the parents improvise a locking mechanism for the door. They'll stay in the safe room all night

    IDF soldiers arrives to occupy the adjoining house that served as the terrorist's combat headquarter. Fierce fighting sounds are heard inside the safe room

    Gunfire sounds are heard inside the house. Tomer and a Amit hold the safe room' handle resolutely and prevent several attempts of enter the room. Along all the noise of gunfire and the inferno outside the door, the couple suddenly hears a call in Hebrew from inside the house: “Clean!“. The couple realizes that IDF soldiers are the ones trying to enter. The soldiers, who have marked the Ades home as occupied by terrorists, are afraid to open the door of the safe room. Only after realizing that it is indeed a family - they open the door.

      Exactly one week later, Tomer arrives in Kfar Aza to bring objects at the request of families in the kibbutz: pick up a sweater for a bereaved woman, find a wedding ring, take a passport, photograph apartments, and more. On his visit, Tomer was exposed to dozens of bodies that were still being laid throughout the kibbutz and at the entrance of his home
