As the shooting begins at Kibbutz Sufa, Margaret Cohen enters the safe room with her dog, Puma. Her husband, Bernard, who usually doesn’t go to the safe room during red color alarms, stays in the living room and plays with Legos.
Margaret is updated in the kibbutz’s WhatsApp group about the terrorist infiltration. She asks Bernard to lock the front doors and join her in the safe room. Bernard replies, "It will be okay". He sits in the dining area next to the back door of the house.

Margaret hears a volley of gunfire and knocks on the safe room window. She remains silent. The terrorists spot Bernard and shoot him through the back patio windows.
Lior, Bernard's son, sends him messages: "Dad, are you okay? You're not answering me." Margaret also tries to reach her husband, but without success.
Margaret sends a message to her neighbor, Yuval Balachssan, a member of the security squad, asking him to help check on Bernard's condition. Margaret and Bernard's children also contact Yuval to assist in locating their father.
Yuval Balachssan arrives at the family’s house with two members of the security squad. Through the back door, the three identify Bernard's body in the dining area. They decide not to tell Margaret what they saw.
After more than ten hours, Margaret leaves the safe room to use the bathroom and get a charger for her mobile phone. She finds her husband’s body lying on the floor in the dining area. Margaret calls the head of the community resilience team, Aryeh Gmura, and requests help.
Soldiers, accompanied by the head of the community resilience team, carry Bernard's body on a stretcher. Margaret is taken to Aryeh Gmura's home.
Margaret and Aryeh tell the children that their father, Bernard, was murdered by the terrorists.
After the IDF approves the evacuation of the kibbutz, Margaret returns home to collect clothes and evacuates to a hotel in Eilat with one of her sons.
The family holds a eulogy for Bernard in Eilat. Immediately afterward, his sons travel to bury him in a cemetery near Kibbutz Yevul.
Margaret moves to Ramat Gan with some of the kibbutz residents
