Heavy salvoes of rockets are launched into the city and the whole Gaza Envelope.
About 15 civilians are at the gas station at the southern entrance to the city near the Nir Am junction. Some are on their way to help in the emergency situation, some have returned from a Friday night out, and some have finished work or are on their way out of town.
Three young men burst into the station's convenience store and shout: “Terrorists shot at us.” One of them is wounded by two bullets in his back. At the same time, a van loaded with seven to ten terrorists enter the gas station. They get off the vehicle and search for victims.
Inside the convenience store are 11 civilians hiding. They run together to the safe that serves as a storage room and close the door. The safe room does not lock, so the citizens tightly grip the handle and lift equipment from the warehouse to block the entrance.
The terrorists try to break through the automatic shop door that has been cut off from electricity. They shoot at the door but fail to infiltrate through it. They spread out at firing positions near the station and shoot at passers-by.

One of those hiding in the safe room is a rescue medic named Kfir. He has a medic backpack with medical supplies. He reports to 911 about the incident.
Sderot City Councilwoman Alona Rabinovich is also taking shelter in the safe room. She updates Mayor Alon Davidi on the situation and requests urgent assistance in their rescue and evacuation of the injured person by ambulance.
A report is received in the municipal hotline of Sderot about a shooting at the Tapuz gas station. Urban policing forces prevent citizens from advancing towards the gas station.

An Air Force fighter helicopter hits the terrorists' vehicle, which is in a square adjacent to the gas station. Some of the terrorists are hurt, and the car is on fire.
A police force arrives at the southern entrance area and wages a long battle against the terrorists. The troops manage to hit some of the terrorists, but some policemen are also injured during the exchange of fire.
A rescue volunteer, Elyashiv Mizrahi, manages to evacuate two wounded policemen from the gas station area. He fails to reach the station and transports the wounded near Moshav Heletz, where they are evacuated to Asuta Hospital in Ashdod. Only about an hour later, a small rescue force arrives at the station and evacuates the gunshot wounded along with his two friends and the councilwoman.
Two Israel Police Special Patrol Unit fighters arrive at the gas station and rescue the rest of the people hiding in the safe room. On their way out, they see numerous bodies of terrorists and civilians. The civilians are evacuated to a refresher station for soldiers at the entrance to the city between Nir Am and Sderot Junction. Upon their arrival, terrorists open fire from within an ambush. The civilians hide in a small shelter along with police forces and the IDF.
Those not city residents are evacuated to the center of the protected municipality of Sderot, where they are waiting for the fighting in the city to end. They stay there for almost a day. Only on Saturday evening, the process of cleansing the territory from terrorists is completed.
