As the red alert went off, Ran and Sharona entered the top-floor safe room along with their children Imer, Einan, and Emanuel. A couple and two children who were staying with them for the holiday, entered the lower-floor safe room.

A member of the kibbutz sends Ran and Sharona a message: “It's a terrorist infiltration. Shut down the whole house.” Ran is equipped with the rifle of his son, a soldier who was that morning in the soldiers' quarters in the kibbutz. The members of the house close the windows and doors and prepare for a stay in the safe room. At the same time, Ran rotates between floors armed with his son's rifle.

Through the shutter in the dining area window, family members notice armed figures. They do not know whether they are soldiers or terrorists, but understand that they need to enter the safe room urgently. Sharona instructs everyone to gather in the safe room on the lower floor, where the door can be locked.

Sharona writes in one of the family's WhatsApp groups: “It's Yom Kippur 2". The family sits in the safe room, catching up on the attack taking place outside, while Ran watches TV in the kitchen

Gunshots are heard inside the kibbutz. Sharona decides to leave the safe room and move around the house with Ran

Sharona hears massive gunfire inside the house. She shouts to Ran, who tells her that he just fired from inside the house at looters who tried to take the children's bikes. Ran goes up to the second floor, opens the balcony window, and continues shooting. He tells Sharona: 'No terrorists will enter our house'

As he watches the outside of the house from the window, Ran shouts to Sharona to open the door to two workers from Thailand he saw trying to escape the terrorists. She lets them into their home and sees they are wounded in their hands. They say they fought the terrorists and managed to escape.

Terrorists try to enter the house through the front door. Ran fires at the door and then goes up to the second floor and continues shooting. The terrorists retreat.

Sharona and Ran hear voices from the balcony, Ran opens the shutters and they see a force of Maglan soldiers. They talk to them from the balcony and Ran updates them that he is armed. The soldiers instruct them to shut the house and not go out.

Sharon and Ran decide to enter the safe room on the top floor. While on their way to the safe room, they hear shouts of “terrorist, terrorist, somebody take him down”. Ran immediately runs to the balcony, recognizes the terrorist, and shoots at him. Sharona urges her husband to enter the safe room for fear of being misidentified as a terrorist by the soldiers. Moments later she hears a shout in Hebrew: “Second floor!“. Sharona runs to the window of her room and notices a soldier aiming at Ran. She shouts not to shoot because it is her husband, but the soldier does not hear. Massive shooting is aimed at the top floor. Sharona finds Ran bleeding on the floor at the entrance to the safe room, she tries to give him CPR, but realizes that he is already dead.

Sharona returns to the safe room and locks it - she and the children inside. At this point she decides not to inform them of their father's death. She calls the head of the security squad, Rotem Katz, and informs him that Ran has been killed and asks that he be evacuated.

Soldiers from the force that inadvertently killed Ran enter the house to evacuate his body. One of the soldiers asks Sharona if he was killed by their gunfire. Sharona confirms and stresses to the soldiers that she is not angry, because she understands that they thought it was a terrorist who had taken the house over

Sharona, the children and the family who were staying with them during the holiday are evacuated to the Kibbutz gathering area, and from there they are transferred to the Mishmar HaNegev base. The eldest Ilai joins his mother Sharona and his brother at the base. As he approaches them smiling, holding bullet magazines he wants to give his father, his mother informs him of Ran's death
