Lee Rahav, a detective in the Tel Aviv district, awoke to alerts and explosions at his Nirim home with his wife Michal and their three children. He dressed the children in protective vests, armed Michal, and secured them in the safe room. He then shot a terrorist storming the house before joining Nirim’s emergency squad to evacuate kibbutz members

The Rahav family—father Lee (45), mother Michal (46), and their children Yuval (15), Noam (13), and Itamar (9)—wake up to the sounds of explosions and relentless alarms. They rush into their home's safe room. Lee, a Tel Aviv police detective, retrieves his M16 rifle and bulletproof vests from his vault. On the previous day, acting on a gut feeling, he had borrowed an additional vest from his unit, providing the family with three bulletproof vests in total. Lee attempts to contact security officials to gather information about the escalating situation, but he receives no reply
Michal’s brother informs her that news reports are claiming terrorists have infiltrated Kibbutz Nirim. She checks the kibbutz’s WhatsApp groups and finds messages from frightened residents reporting gunfire and shouting in Arabic within the kibbutz. Lee swiftly enters the safe room, secures protective vests on the children, hands Michal his pistol, and teaches her how to operate it

Michal and Lee step out of the safe room and head toward their bedroom when gunfire suddenly erupts from the driveway. Spotting a group of figures, they initially assume they are IDF soldiers. However, as the shooting continues, they realize the figures are Hamas terrorists advancing toward their home. Simultaneously, shouting in Arabic echoes from the back of the house. Michal hurries back to the safe room, holding a pistol, while Lee positions himself in the hallway, ready to ambush the terrorists. Before parting, they exchange a resolute remark: “The terrorists won’t get past us.”
One of the terrorists attempts to enter the house, but Lee shoots and kills him. He then retreats to the safe room to inform Michal of what happened. Meanwhile, the terrorists surround the house, firing from all directions and throwing hand grenades. The family takes shelter in the safe room—Lee with his rifle aimed at the door, Michal holding a pistol, and their three children behind them, dressed in bulletproof vests, trying to call for help via WhatsApp. After several tense minutes, the gunfire stops as the terrorists move on to other houses

After hours of bracing for a potential invasion by the terrorists, IDF soldiers arrive and rescue the family, escorting them to the kibbutz dining hall, where other residents who had evacuated their homes had gathered

Lee realizes that apart from his own family, only a small number of kibbutz residents have been rescued by the army. He joins the kibbutz's security squad to assist in evacuating residents who have taken refuge in the kibbutz's club, which features a large spacious safe room. The evacuation continues late into the night, and at one point, Lee reunites with his family to ensure they are safe and well
One and a half days after the attack began, authorities declare it safe to leave the kibbutz. Lee, along with the security squad, escorts a convoy of kibbutz residents as they evacuate to Beersheba and later continue to Eilat
Two days after the war breaks out, Lee receives an emergency call-up order and serves 70 days in the military reserves
